Oracle DBA DALLAS, TX POSITION SUMMARY: The Database Administrator (DBA) will assist in the day-to-day administration, support and ongoing enhancement of database infrastructures. Applicants will be responsible for supporting mission-critical database environments maximizing system uptime and productivity. Candidates must be able to work in a secure, mission-critical production-computing environment. The position will be responsible for helping to ensure the day-to-day health of the enterprise database systems. Experience: Min 8+ years PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Management of multiple Oracle databases in a highly dynamic environment Provide advanced technical expertise to a team in support of operational and project activities related to the business systems Provide advanced technical and operational support to other departments and teams in support of the business objectives Understand and apply advanced database administration, management and performance tuning techniques Provide advanced technical troubleshooting for applications and database systems with emphasis on root cause analysis Configure and tune hardware and software to insure optimum performance and resource utilization. Provide technical leadership and support on all the stages of database Architecture and Implementation Implement and enforce database security and user access based upon best practice and company policies Create proactive monitoring processes and preventative action plans to avoid system outages Report on database activities and health Manage and maintain back-up and recovery procedures Management of database and resource capacity planning Works with application development teams to perform SQL review and tuning Mentor and train other team members on Oracle and other database administration skills Ensure that the databases are available 24 hours a day for performing normal business functions Ensure Service Level Agreements are met POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science or MIS related field OR Equivalent work experience Three or more years experience of Oracle experience required Proven experience installing and administering Oracle 11g Proven experience in Oracle database design, implementation, monitoring and tuning Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager/Grid Control or similar DBA tools Experience with Oracle RMAN backup utilities Technical knowledge of database administration including hands-on troubleshooting experience Technical knowledge of current database hardware, protocols, and standards. Proficient with Structured Query Language and Query Optimization Strong oral and written communication skills Analytical skills for problem determination and resolution Logical and Physical Database Design Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects Ability to work independently, as well as, cooperate with others DBA experience with MSSQL and/or MySQL a plus Experience with or ability to learn and become proficient in: Data Warehousing Database Backup & Recovery Strategies Performance problem analysis Multiple database platforms
