Desktop Support Technician - 3 month contract
Due to recent growth/expansion our client is seeking a contract Desktop Support Technician in Ottawa for a 3 month contract. What is needed to succeed? This position will be part of Desktop support and will provide support to customers as well as perform day to day maintenance. The successful candidate will have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures regarding desktop support and troubleshooting. Resolving technical support issues via telephone and on-site . Analyzing, documenting, and escalating critical issues to appropriate support groups. Maintaining technical expertise and knowledge regarding upgrades and new hardware and software brought into the company. Reviewing calls through the support system. Monitoring and ensuring timely escalation of customer issues to internal organizations or vendors. Collaborate with other IT departments on assigned projects and issues. Diagnose and repair hardware problems, set up, configure and test equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and install upgrades and options. Install Operating system and configure PC’s according to company standards for deployment What technical knowledge will allow you great success? Requires at least 3 years of related experience. Industry Certifications such as A+ , MCP, MCSE an asset Graduation from a recognized post-secondary program an asset. Able to troubleshoot technical issues. Excellent knowledge of Windows XP, and Windows 7. Excellent knowledge of MS Office 2003 - 2010. An understanding of email clients and email systems. Knowledge of automated software deployment methods would be an asset. Strong PC Hardware knowledge and skills. How do you get your chance to join or learn more?
