Job Title:UI Designer Location:Edinburgh Job Type:Contract Duration:3 months Daily Rate:�250-�300/day Modis is seeking a UI Designer with a strong track record in designing web based user interfaces to front complex applications to join the dynamic team of our Edinburgh based client on a contract basis. You will play a key role in designing a high impact, intuitive web based user interface for the client's solutions, having responsibility for overall UI design, including the analysis and testing of use cases and user experience in the field. You will work within a cross-functional team to drive a clear understanding of audience types/roles, user requirements and develop use cases and workflows. Liaising with the current team is key in order to create wireframe prototypes and implement UI user-experience test cases to improve the user journeys through a defined workflow. You will develop UI standards and guidelines and a design authority practice to ensure standards are followed by other UI designers and developers in order to help establish a best-in-class, user-centric design function. Key Skills/Qualifications: ESSENTIAL *Strong track record in designing web based user interfaces to front complex applications. *Recent experience of designing a UI for a SaaS solution. *Ability to translate complex business requirements into user-centred UI designs. *Knowledge of latest web usability standards and techniques; including an awareness of browser compatibility issues. *Experience in usability testing with tools such as Solidify *Competent with a wide range of prototyping tools such as Axure. *Strong interpersonal and communication skills. *A degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in human-computer interaction, UI design or interaction design (or equivalent experience). *Experience of creating and maintaining UI design standards and style guidelines. Experience of working with UI developers to implement designs DESIRABLE *Implementation of UI designs including a competency in use of Graphic Design packages such as Photoshop, Fireworks and/or Illustrator *Competency at creating HTML and CSS using tools such as Dreamweaver. *Testing developed User Interfaces to ensure compliance with UI designs and standards *Experience of playing a role in a Design Authority to ensure UI Design standards are adhered to.
