We are seeking a highly skilled Back End Software Engineer with a penchant for collaborating with front end developers, as well as creative, non-IT staff members. We're looking for someone who is well versed in a broad spectrum of programming languages, is a team contributor, and is able to work on a diverse array of assignments. Individual will be responsible for: � Maintaining our existing Amazon server infrastructure and expanding it to fit the needs of our growing business � Managing our Wowza Media Streaming Service instances on Amazon servers and developing code for the Java modules within the Wowza environment when feature changes are necessary � Enhancing the proprietary software on our custom built encoder boxes, including tweaking FFMPEG settings in order to maximize quality at the lowest bit-rate & transmission bandwidth possible � Meeting with business development managers to discuss new functionality requests � Developing detailed technical specifications and timelines for new feature implementations and providing regular feedback to management regarding the development life cycle Position Requirements: � Wowza / Java o Java module development, building a reliable and test-able service � Perl o Using Modern Perl with cpanminus, Moose, event loops and the Mojolicious web framework o Packaging modules using Dist::Zilla � Ubuntu GNU\Linux o Installation and support of headless micro-form factor systems used for remote deployment o V4L2 and ALSA for media capture o FFMPEG and streaming media experience o Understanding of process management � Git o Using revision control for configuration management � SSH o Using reverse proxy for remote management � Amazon AWS o EC2, Route 53, S3 o Building startup packages o Using management API for starting new EC2 instances, changing DNS records � LAMP (Apache2, MySQL, PHP) o Supporting a web development platform Qualifications � 5+ years professional software development experience � Team management experience � Java (or C++) � Perl � SQL Database (mySql) � Linux Nice to Haves: � Previous tech lead and/or architecture experience � Previous startup experience � Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3) � J2EE � Drupal � Wowza Media Server � RTMP streams � JWPlayer � Flash/HTML5 video Compensation: Based on experience, plus stock options.
