Our direct client is looking for a Business Project Manager. This position is for a huge program migrating from one system to another. They have realized that enhancements need to be made to one of the systems. They are at the peak of this initiative so need an additional resource. This group functions as the liasion between business and IT. They partner with an IT PM who is responsible for direct management of technical resources. These PMs facilitate through functional design, facilitate test planning, communication up the ladder, down the ladder, and across. This is a non-IT role, but the manager likes PMs with a technical background to keep the IT people in line. Insurance or financial services background and mortgage background are good fits for this group. They dont have time to get people up to speed on the business. Would like a broad background technical, non-technical, package selection, package implementation experience. Manager does not need direct technical experience in these areas, but understanding of the methodology around them. If a person comes from a structured, rigid, PM approach they WILL NOT work in this organization. They are more entreprenurial. Not to the point where they disregard process but need to think quickly. Its all about practicality in managing a project. Manager would also like someone who knows Project Server and is pretty good at it. They also use Sharepoint and MSOffice, but only need to know that from an end-user type perspective. As a project manager you will be a part of the PMO and will be responsible for leading end-to-end project management activities for key strategic organizational projects. Responsibilites: Work on multiple small projects of a moderately complex nature on a single work stream of a large complex project. Work with key business and IT stakeholders to develop a project management plan including identifying the business needs, project goals, objectives, project approach, project staffing, project roles and responsibilities and project budget. Develop, manage and deliver project communications to various levels of the organization Develop and manage the project schedule and determine impacts to the schedule based on scope, resource other project changes Manage the financial aspects of the project Work with business and IT to acquire and manage project resources Required Skills: Strong leadership skills working with teams to create a project team atmosphere of trust, seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation and mentoring staff Strong business knowledge of various functional areas such as Sales, Operations, Finance and Compliance in various industries Experience with managing vendors in developing master services agreements and statements of work and managing the vendor budget Experience working with virtual project teams over multiple time zones and cultures Managing a broad range of project types such as business process improvement, vendor selection, package design and implementation, custom development, design and implementation, data migrations, mergers and acquisitions, etc. Solid relationship building skills with all levels of an organization Job Qualifications: Must have 5-10 years of project management experience Must have Insurance, financial services, operations consulting experience Must have managed different types of project (such as custom development, package development, integration, conversion, process improvement, etc.) Good communicator with all levels of the organization; knows how to manage up and down. This group targets candidates with a mix of Technical and Business facing expereince. Builds good relationships Extensive experience with MS Project, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio Certification in process of Certification for Project Management preferred and previous experience in a Project Management Office (PMO) a plus.
