Linux Systems Engineer
Seeking a mid-level Linux System Engineer capable of using established processes and tools to support a mid-size to large IT environment. Evaluate data and develop plans for timely completion of assigned tasks. Provide technical guidance to peers and business owners. Basic Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: • Understanding of IT service delivery • Proven customer services in a complex environment • Excellent interpersonal skills • Self-motivated and ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment • Must be a team player, proactive, and possess excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent relevant experience) and 3 Years with Bachelors (1 Year with Masters) • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance • Comprehensive working knowledge of the structure and design of Unix systems in general, Linux distributions especially, and RHEL/Centos/Oracle Linux 5 specifically. • Command line experience required Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration: • Experience in implementation, security hardening, and other routine maintenance tasks • Be able to provide recommendations for improving existing systems, knowledge transfer of expertise, and assist with staff development and automate daily administration tasks • Must have working understanding of Linux LVM2, networking, and boot sequence • Must have some experience with system scripting (bash, perl, or python), sed and awk skills a plus • Knowledge and prior experience with SAN, lights out administration hardware, NAS, Samba, SSH, Firewalls, TCP/IP networking, and Netbackup preferred • Prior experience with Weblogic, PeopleSoft, and Oracle RAC a plus.
