Responsibilities: The Active Directory Professional will simplify Active Directory for the WIARNG, reduce the number of Group Policies and provide documentation in the deliverables section of the SOO.. Verify any AD or GP changes are universally applied and all machines in the enterprise are responding as planned. The enterprise consists of approximately 2500 devices with a mix of operating systems from Windows XP SP2 to Windows 7 as well as Server 2003 to Server 2008 R2. Create a more manageable AD structure for managing rights and permissions to Objects in NGWI. Find and eliminate redundant GPs objects. Simultaneously, reduce the linkages between OUs and GPs to produce a more efficient policy structure. Reduce, by a minimum of 60% the number or GP objects created in WI. (GPs inherited from NGB do not count against this total.) Simplify group policy objects to a more role based model with the intent of creating group policies to the mirror the typical classification of users and machines in the WIARNG. For example, a group policy for HR users, logistics users, joint staff member, default logistics computer, default FTUS computer, etc. WIARNG will work with the contractor to determine the optimal amount. Create the conditions for configuration management. At the end of the period of performance, the outcome is to have a manageable number of objects that can be proactively managed by full time administrators. Configuration management cannot be done with the number of objects that currently exist. Ensure, to the maximum extent possible, the consistent application of GPs. Currently, updates require a manual intervention by systems administrators to receive policy. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related fields is highly desirable. Working technical knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy required. Familiarity with DoD, Army and NGB policies highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.
