Principal Software Engineer required for a Pan European Defence Contractor C/C++ Test System Engineer Role : To undertake a full range of software engineering activities in line with relevant processes, quality and other requirements, supplying specialist advice and support across projects, other business units and customer as appropriate. Key Responsibilities: PROJECT & BUSINESS DELIVERY Interface with project /external customer as required Act as point of contact with internal customers and internal suppliers in assigned areas to resolve a full range of problems and issues whilst maintaining an awareness of priorities and objectives in both parties. Support Functional capability and process improvement. TECHNICAL ABILITY Take initiative in evaluating technical issues/ solutions in order to develop proposals and technical demonstrators as required Perform a full range of technical analyses and investigations, including selection of preferred options to resolve problems and challenges within the project. Define test strategy, specify tests and evaluate results to meet the needs of the project. Support the identification of problems/issues/concerns arising within the team at any early stage. Supplying technical support and expertise to others as required. Provide reports on progress and achievement to the team leader as required. Support functional goals by identifying, suggesting and trialling improvements in SET capability. In particular consider improvement towards the goals of a more Agile development process and enhanced test and diagnostic procedures. Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences. Manage technical meetings. Candidate: Degree qualified or equivalent (computing, software, or related) Capable of design, development and proving of systems for Defence or equivalent complex system applications. Good working knowledge of current test orientated, PC based, programming environments including National Instruments' LabWindows/CVI and LabView for Defence based systems. Knowledge of real time development using real time extensions (RTX) for Windows. Proven history of successfully applied diagnostic and problem solving techniques at a system level that includes software, electrical and mechanical components. Understanding of associated interfaces with aircraft and ground equipment systems. Good communication and presentation skills Sound knowledge of software processes, engineering and quality standards. Provide help and support to less experienced members of the team. Prioritize tasks and issues successfully. Good analytical and problem solving skills.
