No tech skills required to do development-like tasks with new tool
Our company uses a new (still somewhat proprietary) development platform, MetaGami, for development of applications serving non-profit organizations. As you will see from the attachments, MetaGami developers do not need technical skills; in fact, for the work we intend to contract, technical skills might even be detrimental. Comfort with basic Office skills is more than sufficient. Graphic design capabilities would also be useful for some of the projects we have in mind. We would plan to provide a copy of MetaGami for the contractor or contractors who we select. We would also provide on-line training in the basic skills required. Hard copy documentation is limited. MetaGami is still under development, thus bugs do occur occasionally so the contractors we select must be able to cope with occasional, though not frequent, problems. Projects would be assigned as our needs demand. In order to facilitate interaction as contractors develop comfort with MetaGami, a good understanding of English will be necessary. We are seeking the least expensive solution, taking into account the resources we must dedicate to training and support as well as the cost itself. We will likely select more than one contractor and determine who gets assignments based on how quickly MetaGami skills develop, how easy it is to interact as expertise evolves, how quickly tasks can be completed, and, of greatest importance, the quality of the final product.
