Hello and thanks for reading. ...here's abit about the role... Oxjam Chiswick's Takeover music festival is on SAT 20th OCT. They'll be 8 venues along Chiswick High Road, playing host to 80 bands and 6 DJ's across the day, with over 1000 people expected. Each venue will have a team of people, all friendly and all doing their bit, just like you to help us raise money for Oxfam GB and creating this great music festival. We will provide you with training in the weeks leading upto the 20th OCT, which is essential you can attend and they'll be an after party too so we can unwind and enjoy our achivements and abit of patting on the backs. You don't need any specific skills or attributes as such but a friendly disposition and a willingness to get stuck in and help will go along way and you'll enjoy being public facing and confident to engage with them. The duties will vary from some flyering, being part of our dynamic street team, to bucket collecting in venues, to making sure people are enjoying themselves and anticpating what might need to be done wil help alot. They'll be a venue coorodinator, fundraising supervisor and a stage manager to look after the bands too, so each venue will have between 5-8 people. Ideally we would like you to do the whole day, but if you can't that's alright too, we can look at your availability and work around that usually. Ages - from a mature 17 right through to a spritely 60 and we welcome all backgrounds. ...here's abit about Oxjam... Oxjam Chiswick is part of OXFAM's National Music Festival - this year there are 47 towns and cities throughout the UK from the Shetland Isle's to Torquay are taking part. Hundreds of thousands of people will come to an Oxjam event in 2012 making it the UK's largest music festival. Each Oxjam holds a series of events culminating in the 'Takeover' of their area. The Takeover is a multi-venue, multi-band event with the aim of raising money for Oxfam and the great work that they do. All of the teams are run by volunteers - none of us get paid. We would love to get a salary and to provide you with one but for every pound we spend that's one less Oxfam receive. So this is a VOLUNTARY position and no salary is offered. We do it to because we love music and to help Oxfam do what they do best, work with others to help overcome poverty and suffering. . It saves lives and we reckon that matters. ...here's abit about Oxjam CHISWICK In 2011 we proudly put Oxjam Chiswick on the Oxfam and Oxjam map. We had 6 venues hosting 69 bands and 1 DJ and over 700 people came to our Takeover Day in October and nearly 1000 people attended our events. We raised the most of any Takeover in their first year, we broke the previous London record and we were in the top 3 nationally for 2011 and top 10 of all time. We had Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) open our Takeover, received media coverage in the local press, magazines, radio and in 7 different countries. Back for 2012, we have Bruce Dickinson to open the festival and lots of cool bands and acts and dj's playing across the day. This is Chiswick's best community music festival. Interested? Great! Drop us a line and include abit about yourself and your contact number an dwe'll call for a chat. Thanks again, come along and show your support and enjoy a great day out!
